Research Areas:

1. Immunoregulation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs): MSCs actively regulate the process of tissue repair. Injured tissue always accompanies with inflammation. Thus, it is necessary to explore the relationship between MSCs and immune cells. We have found that the immunomodulation of MSCs is endowed by certain inflammatory cytokines. Also, there is plasticity of MSC immunomodulation. Such process is decided by the presence of different amounts and kinds of inflammatory cytokines which are in dynamic changes during the initiation and progression of inflammatory diseases;

2. Immunomodulation in Tumour: Immunosurveillance is critical in controlling tumour development and progression. Tumour immunotherapy is a therapy applied to treat tumor patients that shapes the immune system to fight against tumor. Our studies are focusing on the formation and regulation of immune responses in the tumour stroma;

3. Immune metabolism: Immune cells opt for distinct metabolic pathways to exert either pro-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory functions. We aim to illustrate how metabolic pathways dictating immune cell function and develop new strategies to target immunometabolism in autoimmune diseases.

4. Activation Induced Cell Death (AICD) of Different T cell Subpopulation: We are investigating on the potential mechanisms of AICD in different T cell subpopulation.
