Research Areas:

Our major focus has been to investigate the role of a family of receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK), the Eph receptors and their ligands ephrins, and Eph interacting protein RACK1 in tumor initiation, cancer metastasis and cancer metabolism. Our approach involves a combination of oncogenomics and proteomics studies of primary tumor tissue from cancer patients, aluciferase-labeled orthotopic xenograft mouse models as well as traditional cell biology and biochemistry techniques. Ephs/ephrins represent important surface mediators, and many members showed aberrant expression in the process of tumorigenesis. We are interested to understand why Eph/ephrins and RACK1 are dysregulated during tumor transformation and metastasis, Which events downstream or upstream of Eph/ephrin happen associated with their alteration, and what is the underlying mechanism and transduction signaling pathways. Besides answering these questions, we search for optimal drug targets among Ephs/ephrins and Ephs/ephrins related molecules to develop strategy for cancer therapy.
